Meanwhile, Littlefoot, Ali, and the rest of their friends continued their trek through the woods. It was getting close to dark, but Littlefoot insisted that they kept going as far as they could without stopping. Yet, some of the gang couldn't help slightly scared seeing as how a majority of life's creatures were so active around this hour. One noise amongst them attracts Littlefoot's attention, causing him to stop so suddenly.

Ali: What's wrong, Littlefoot?

Littlefoot: Shh! (whispers) Quiet.

They keep quiet as Littlefoot asked, so he could have a moment to listen close to what he just heard. At first, they heard nothing but the sound of crickets chirping in the night sky. But then, they hear it: A mixture of a hiss, followed by a snarl. Littlefoot didn't know for sure, but he knew it didn't sound good either.

Littlefoot: (whispers) Stay low.

They managed to find cover behind a large tree, ducking as low as they could as a vicious looking reptile walked by. Littlefoot peers his head as far as eye level to recognize the beast: A Dimetrodon, a creature with a large sail on its back formed by elongated spines extending from the vertebrae. It walked on four legs and had a tail, curved skull with large teeth of different sizes set along the jaws. It sniffed the air by sticking out its tongue. Sensing nothing, the creature moved on, past the traveling group of dinosaurs, who peer out to see the Dimetrodon walk way. Cautiously, they peer from side to side before it was safe to move out from hiding. Petrie, still slightly nervous, hopped onto Littlefoot's back and onto his head before settling down with a sigh.

Littlefoot: Ow! Hey! Petrie, get off!

Petrie: (rubs his hand atop the head) You got nice flat head, Flathead.

Littlefoot: (indignantly) Ahem. My name is not Flathead; my name is Littlefoot.

Petrie: (gasps) Littlefoot? Oh.

Littlefoot: Are you planning to stay up there?

Petrie: Yes.

Littlefoot: Well, you can't! (shakes his head, to no avail) I'm not a carrier. Get off!

Petrie utters a small yelp, but he doesn't let go. Getting irritated, Littlefoot resumes walking. But not long afer, his walking starts getting faster and faster.

Littlefoot: You're a Pteranodon; you're a flyer. Now open your wings... And start flying!

Petrie: But-b-b-b-b- (yelps)

And Littlefoot's walking soon turns from a slight jog before the Apatosaurus is practically running through the forest. The faster Littlefoot runs, the tighter Petrie's grip along Littlefoot's head. Petrie was so scared; there was no way he'd let go... Which only pushed Littlefoot to go faster. So fast in fact, the others had a tough time trying to keep up with him.

Guido: (nervous) I don't like where this is going.

Spike: Uh-uh.

Ali: Littlefoot, stop! You're scaring Petrie!

Petrie: (objects to Littlefoot) No! No! No can do this!

Littlefoot: You can fly! Open your skinny wings.

Petrie: (looks ahead) DANGER!

Ducky: Where, Petrie?

Petrie: T-t-t-t-t-t-there! Ahead!

Littlefoot skids to a grinding halt, only to collide against a big skeleton, which gets stuck to him. Littlefoot runs ahead with the skeleton on his back, Ali and the others try to run ahead while Littlefoot is just struggling to remove the skeleton. Suddenly, another cry is head and the dinosaurs see Cera running toward them. By that time, the skeleton finally flew off of Littlefoot's body, the bones falling apart and colliding against Cera, causing her to fall flat on her back. The dinosaurs approach Cera, the Triceratops laid out on the ground panting and trying to catch her breath.

Littlefoot: Cera, it's you!

Ali: What happened? Why are you so frightened?

Cera: Frightened? Me? (gets up, laughs it off) Why are you so frightened?

Ali: We're not frightened.

Guido: Are we?

Ducky: Nope, nope.

Ruby: Not really.

Spike: Uh-uh.

Cera: Well, you should be.

Littlefoot: (suspiciously) Oh, really? And why aren't you with your family?

Cera: Well, I could with the other Triceratops. But I chose to come back to warn you... I... Met... Red Claw!

Petrie: (shudders) Red Claw!

Jumping out in a fit of fright, Petrie jumps up and clutches Littlefoot's neck, chattering his beak. In contrast, Littlefoot is clearly not buying it.

Littlefoot: C'mon, Cera. Red Claw is dead. He fell down into that big crevice.

Cera: And that's... Where he met me.

Ducky: Oh... Dear, brave Cera.

Petrie: Dear, brave Cera.

Cera: (confidently) Yes... I am brave.

Littlefoot: Red Claw is dead!

Cera: My father told me that Sauropods had very small brains.

Ali: (shocked) What did you say?!

Ali's little outburst caused Guido to fall off her back, as Cera starts telling her story in such a way that it almost sounds theatrical.

Cera: I was all alone with him in the dark...

Petrie yelps, Cera's not even five minutes into her story and he's already scared out of his wits.

Cera: ...Just Red Claw and me. (turns to Guido) I could hear him breathing. (imitates roar)

A chill starts to crawl on Guido who shudders, as Cera gets closer to him for dramatic effect.

Cera: I could see his one big, ugly eye looking for me.

Guido gulps, as Cera imitates Red Claw's roar again. Clearly she was really enjoying this.

Guido: Eh, just outta curiousity, but, uh, what exactly did you do next?

Cera: I walked right up to him... I looked him straight in the eye... And said... (roars)

Cera jumps, stamping her feet on a piece of wood. Guido, standing on the board, was propelled into the air, screaming as he comically throws his limbs out and about. Ruby runs around side-to-side positioning herself to catch Guido as he stares wide-eyed as he gets closer and closer to the ground. But finally, Ruby managed to catch Guido before he hits the ground though she stumbles onto her rear.

Ruby: Got you, I have.

Guido: (breathes sigh of relief) Whew. Thanks, Ruby.

Littlefoot: Nonsense.

One word from Littlefoot caused all of the other dinosaurs to turn, including Cera, who stares directly at Littlefoot and clearly not pleased. By this time, Petrie had let himself down on the ground.

Littlefoot: That's what I say to your story, Cera. Absolute nonsense!

Cera: What did you say?

Littlefoot: You heard me. None of what you say is true! You're only making this up to scare us!

Petrie: Me think it worked too well.

Cera: Are you calling me a liar? Is that what you're saying?!

Littlefoot: What I'm saying is that you only say Red Claw is alive just so you can get all the attention for yourself.

As Littlefoot and Cera banter and argue over her claims, Ali starts to feel something move. She looks over her back and is surprised to see that the egg is moving as if the occupant is ready to come out. Ali tries to get Littlefoot's attention, but he's too busy arguing to take notice.

Ali: Littlefoot...

Cera: That is so typical of you Sauropods... Smug, that's what you are. You think you're the superior species just because you're bigger than us and not just because of your long necks! But I saw what I saw, and I'm never wrong.

Ali: Littlefoot...!

Littlefoot: The problem with you is that you don't know when to stop!

Cera: The trouble with you is you don't know when to believe other species!

Ali: (shouts) Littlefoot!

Littlefoot: (swiftly turns around) What?!

Ali: The egg! I think it's hatching!

Immediately, Ducky rushes over to Ali's side and lifts the egg off her back. As gently as she can, she lays the egg onto a soft patch on the ground. The small creature inside breaks free from its shell, sticking its feet through the shell. Eventually, a majority of the egg falls apart revealing it's lower frame before it pushes the top shell off its head. What the dinosaurs see turns out to be quite a shock: A baby Tyrannosaurus looking all around the area, staring at the shocked expressions on the dinosaurs.

Ruby: It's... It's a...

The baby gives a yawn, revealing it's small yet razor-sharp teeth.

Guido: (screams) Tyrannosaurus! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

Guido's scream startles the baby Tyrannosaurus, who huddles back trying to cover himself with his little arms. But Guido's not paying attention, neither does he look where he's going, bumping into one of Spike's legs and falling flat on his back. While all the other dinosaurs back away in fright, Ali slowly moves toward the baby in awe. The baby, frightened of the strange dinosaurs, softly whimpers.

Ali: Aw... He doesn't look dangerous. (arches her neck closer) It's all right; we won't hurt you.

The baby starts to relax and gives Ali a smooth lick on her cheek. Littlefoot chuckles, looking somewhat amused.

Littlefoot: (chuckles) Friendly little guy, isn't he?

The baby gurgles, as he looks at Ali, who would never imagine that a baby from a carnivorous species would turn out to be nothing as she thought of them. Ruby herself is quite surprised on her part.

Ruby: Um, Ali... I think the baby thinks you're his mama.

Ali: (gasps) Me? I'm a... Mom?

Ducky: Oh, do not worry, Ali. We will help you take care of him.

Guido: We will? (Ruby elbows him) Ow! I mean... Yes, yes we will! (chuckles nervously)

Ducky: (moves her fingers in a "follow me" motion) Come here, little guy. Come to Auntie Ducky.

The baby attempts to stand up and walk toward Ducky. But he doesn't stand for no longer than a few seconds when the baby stumbles and falls over.

Littlefoot: Hmm. Guess we'll have to teach him to walk first.

Ali: You're right. (to the baby, lifts her foot) First you lift one foot, then you put it down in front of you. Then, you lift the other.

Littlefoot: See? It's easy. Now, you try it.

Naturally, the baby tries his best to walk, doing as he was instructed to do. He puts one foot over the over; unfortunately, he's moving too quickly.

Ali: Slow down, you'll hurt yourself.

The baby suddenly falls over, lying face-first into the ground.

Ducky: Oh my gosh! (moves over to the baby Tyrannosaurus) Are you all right, little baby?

The baby Tyrannosaurus lifts his head to Ducky, cooing in response as if acknowledging he was okay.

Ali: (sighs) You're going to have to be more careful, okay?

The baby turns away as if in shame, a little tear stream down his cheek. Ali gasps upon seeing this.

Ali: Oh, no, no, no, it's all right. I'm not mad.

Ruby: (pats the baby Tyrannosaurus on the head) Y'know, think of a name for him, we really should.

As Ruby spoke, a dragonfly flies around his head, distracting the baby Tyrannosaurus. He eyes the insect for a second or two before attempting to take a bite at the creature.

Littlefoot: Hmm. Well, I think I know a perfect name for him: Chomper.

As Littlefoot spoke, the Tyrannosaurus officially named Chomper finally lands a bite at the dragonfly. He practically squashed the insect in his jaws, causing the others to cringe at the sight of it.

Petrie: Me guess he hungry.

Chomper continues to chomp on his meal, well content with the tiny little delicacy. Littlefoot and the others, with the exception of Cera, tried to be as polite as possible knowing that at least Chomper was eating an insect and not anything with more additional flesh.

Littlefoot: Well, I guess having him eat insects will be all right. Especially since we won't be leaving him behind.

Cera: (shocked) Are you crazy?! He's a Tyrannosaurus! We're not his family; we're his diet! And a Tyrannosaurus can never be one of us... Never!

Ali: Don't you dare say that!

Cera: You know it's true, Sauropod! He has to go!

Ali: No! He stays!

Cera: He goes!

Ali: He stays!

Cera: He goes!

Ali: He stays!

Cera: He goes!

Ali: (using reverse psychology) He goes!

Cera: He stays! (realizes that she fell for it) Argh!

Ruby: Well, I vote for letting Chomper stay.

Ducky: Me too, we should give him a chance. Oh yes, yes, yes. What do you think, Spike?

Spike: (nods) Uh-huh.

Spike walks over to Chomper and gives him a slobbery lick. The baby giggles, as Littlefoot looks over at Petrie and Guido.

Littlefoot: Well, what about you two?

Petrie: Well... Me guess it'll be all right.

Guido: (hesitates) Do we have any other choice?

Ruby: (raises her brows) Guido?

Guido: Okay, okay... I'll give him a chance.

Littlefoot: Then it's decided; he stays with us. (nuzzles Chomper)

Ali then walks over to Chomper, gently lifting him up by the front of her flat teeth, and puts him on top of Littlefoot's back.

Ali: Since you said we're not leaving him behind, you get to watch him first, Littlefoot.

Littlefoot nods, believing it to be a fair offer. He arches his neck to his back, looking over at Chomper, who looks up at the older dinosaur. Suddenly, Chomper is moving his mouth and making a sound, but neither was it a growl or a gurgle.

Chomper: Li-Li-Littlefoot.

The other dinosaurs (minus Cera) gasp, realizing that the new baby dinosaur just spoke his first word. And yet, it was still a shock regardless because they had never expected a Tyrannosaurus as being capable of speech. Perhaps maybe it would go to prove that perhaps what they thought they knew about a Tyrannosaurus... Perhaps they didn't learn enough until now. The dinosaurs gathered around Littlefoot, admiring the baby Tyrannosaurus while Ali is close behind. She turns toward Cera, who simply frowns at her.

Cera: I hope you know what you're doing, Sauropod, or realize what you got yourself into.

Ali: I know how you feel about carnivores, Cera. But what was I going to do? He was all alone when we found him, even I don't want him to grow up without a family.

Cera: Then I hope you realize who's responsible if anything goes wrong.

Ali just turns away, hiding her anger towards Cera. For that Triceratops knew how to get under someone's skin with her prejudice and hostility towards other dinosaurs. But for the sake of her friends and especially Chomper, Ali would not allow this to boil over. Of course, Littlefoot could nearly tell that Ali almost lost her patience. There was no way they could keep going with so much tensions amongst the group.

Littlefoot: I think we should rest here for the night.

The other dinosaurs nod, half of them yawning and showing exhaustion. They laid down under some trees for cover, while Cera chose to separate herself from most of the group. Littlefoot and Ali decided to sleep together on another spot, while Chomer slept in between. Chomper, however, had a tough time sleeping as he softly gurgles.

Chomper: A-A-Ali.

Ali simply looks down at Chomper and smiles.

Ali: Don't listen to what Cera says. It doesn't matter what dinosaur you are; you'll always be our son to me.

Littlefoot chuckled upon hearing that. To lighten Chomper's spirits, Ali sings to Chomper a lullaby. The most soothing of which she could ever sing.

Ali: (Sings) Don't lose your way
With each passing day
You've come so far
Don't throw it away
Live believing
Dreams are for weaving
Wonders are waiting to start
Live your story
Faith, hope and glory
Hold to the truth in your heart

If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
Where clouds roll by
For you and I

Littlefoot (joins in, sings) Souls in the wind
Must learn how to bend
Seek out a star
Hold on to the end
Valley, mountain
There is a fountain
Washes our tears all away

Ali: (sings) Waves are swaying
Someone is praying
Please let us come home to stay

Littlefoot and Ali: (sings) If we hold on togehter
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
As clouds roll by
For you and I

Littlefoot: (sings) When we are out there in the dark
We'll dream about the sun

Ali: (sings) In the dark, we'll feel the light
Warm our hearts, everyone

Littlefoot and Ali: (sings) If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
As high as souls can fly
The clouds roll by
For you and I

Chomper yawns and closes his eyes, drifting off to sleep nuzzeled between Littlefoot and Ali. Ali bends her neck down and kisses him lightly on his head, whispering softly into his ears:

Ali: (whispers) Chomper, I love you very much.

Ali then lays her head over Chomper, the two falling asleep. Littlefoot looks down at the two with a warm smile on his face, the sensation of being a parent warming his heart. He turns to the others, who had since fallen asleep side-by-side with the exception of Cera, who's back was turned against the dinosaur herd and sleeping in her own corner of the woods. Littlefoot soon turns to the night sky, the stars shining brightly in the sky but none as bright as the full moon. Looking toward the night sky, it was as if Littlefoot could see his family, if they survive up to this point, watching over him and the Apatosaurus himself praying for their safe voyage. All Littlefoot could do is hope that they'd be there when they reached the Great Valley.

Littlefoot: Good night, Grandma and Grandpa. Good night... Father.

Saying his good nights to them, even if they weren't there beside him and neither if they'd have heard, Littlefoot sets himself next to Ali and Chomper, joining them in a peaceful slumber.

Little would he know, or any of the dinosaurs would know, Littlefoot's family had since taken rest with the rest of the herd on a small patch of land and their frames illuminated by the moonlight. Littlefoot's father, Bron, still awake while everyone else slept, looked up toward the sky. A shooting star flies over the sky, as if it was a sign from his late wife that his son and Ali were alive. All Bron could do was hope that their children would have the strength to come close to the Great Valley, to be there to greet them when they arrived.

Bron: Good night... my son.
