NARRATOR: 'As you may remember, our friends Bentley and Penny Raccoon were the first ones to see the Evergreen Railway Dragon. Well, it has now been a year since they first met. And this year...well, let's watch this special episode, and see what happens.'

EVERGREEN FOREST: NIGHTTIME SKY
The weather was clear with a few clouds in the sky. Suddenly, a familiar shape flies through as calls are made in the night. It was the Evergreen Railway Dragon, and he was being summoned by someone shouting tidings. He flew through many clouds, and even over and under them. He even flew over a circus just outside the Evergreen Forest.
VOICE: 'Oh, Clarence, Clarence! You dunno your left from your right.'
Two humans - one tall and thin named Lenny, and the other one short and chubby named Clarence - were carrying a plank of wood on their shoulders.
CLARENCE: 'I know your left, by my right...' (stops and looks up)
LENNY: 'Would you watch what you're doin'? I'd like to get some shut-eye in before morning.'
Lenny pulled on the plank, pulling Clarence with him.
CLARENCE: 'Whoa!'

EVERGREEN FOREST
Meanwhile, the Dragon continued flying over the trees, until he landed and walked through the trees and shrubs. He continued on until he came upon the Forest Bowl, where some familiar animal kids where shouting tidings on stage with flashlights. It was Bentley, Penny, Broo, and the Chipmunks and Chipettes. All of them, minus Broo, were in their night clothes - pajamas for Bentley and the Chipmunks, and nightgowns for Penny and the Chipettes.
PENNY: 'Hard to believe it's been a whole year since we first met the Dragon, Bentley.'
BENTLEY: 'Yeah. Time sure flies, doesn't it?'
BRITTANY: (sighs) 'We've been "shouting tidings" for nearly 15 minutes, and I need my beauty sleep. Are we sure he's coming?'
PENNY: 'Relax, Brittany. He always comes when we call him.'
SIMON: (looks at his watch) 'Well, let's hope he gets here before the grown-ups realize we're still out past our bedtime.'
ALVIN: 'Aw, lighten up, Si. He'll be here soon....right?'
Suddenly, they heard footsteps outside the Forest Bowl.
JEANETTE: 'Hey, w-w-what was that?'
THEODORE: 'I-I hope it's not a m-monster.'
Suddenly, Theodore gasped as he came face to face with the Dragon. Then he giggled a bit as Broo barked happily to see their friend.
THEODORE: 'Hi.'
BENTLEY: 'There you are.'
PENNY: 'We'd begun to think you weren't coming.'
DRAGON: 'Wasn't coming? Did you lads and lassies not shout tidings to summon me?'
Simon and Jeanette had turned on lights on the stage as the Dragon stepped onto it.'
PENNY: 'We did shout you tidings.' (giggles)
The Dragon looked at the props backstage.
DRAGON: 'Such a lair full of treasure.'
PENNY: 'We have an invitation for you.'
DRAGON: (looks through a kaleidoscope he found, distracted) 'What this be? An invitation? How nice.'
PENNY: 'We would like you to come to my birthday party.'
DRAGON: (exclaims) 'Party?!'
KIDS: 'Shh! Quiet.'
DRAGON: 'Oh, yes, of course. Sorry.'
BENTLEY: 'So, will ya come to Penny's party? Whaddaya say?'
DRAGON: 'If there is such a thing as this thunderous portal, I will gladly attend.'
PENNY: 'Great! Oh, I can't wait to introduce ya to our other...'
DRAGON: (terrified) 'Other?!'
Scared, the Dragon seemed to disappear like a shot. Penny rolled her eyes a bit as she continued.
PENNY: 'Friends. It's my birthday, and our other friends from school and the neighborhood will be there.' (looks around)
The kids looked around for their giant reptilian friend, until Alvin spotted a bit of the Dragon's blue woolly scarf hanging outside.
ALVIN: 'C'mon, big guy. What're ya afraid of?' (pulls on the scarf)
As Alvin pulled on the scarf the Dragon's head appeared to them, albeit upside down as he was sitting on the roof of the Forest Bowl. Alvin then let go of the scarf as the Dragon spoke.
DRAGON: 'Aside from the ones who summoned that raccoon hero, I know no other friends. Only those that would prick us with arrows and hunt us down.'
BRITTANY: 'You're still going on about that?'
JEANETTE: 'Well, actually, the Evergreen Forest's King's law might keep dragons safe here in the Evergreen Forest, but unfortunately not the rest of the world.'
DRAGON: (nods) 'If only there were more like you saplings, then it might be safe for dragons. But alas, it's not to be.'
ELEANOR: 'Oh, Dragon. There's still lots of people and animals like us.'
DRAGON: 'Nah.'
THEODORE: 'And if ya come to Penny's party, you'll see.'
DRAGON: 'Birthday, birthday, always birthday. What kinda day this birthday be?'
BENTLEY: 'Come back down here, and we'll show ya.'
As the Dragon came back down, Simon and Jeanette had just finished setting up a film projector. Simon turned it on, and Jeanette put in a slot. The picture showed a human clown in the circus.
JEANETTE: (sheepishly) 'Oops. Wrong slot.'
Jeanette took the slot out and put in another one. The next one showed a ship similar to Noah's Ark.
JEANETTE: 'Oh, nuts. (takes the slot out) Now, where is it?'
After putting in another slot, the picture showed a forest. The Dragon looks amazed.
DRAGON: 'I've heard tell of lantern shows, but never knew they could enchant a whole forest.'
SIMON: 'It's not really there.'
JEANETTE: 'Exactly. It's just to remember by.'
As Jeanette spoke, Penny put her hand over the projector, making a shadow of her hand over the picture.
PENNY: 'See?'
DRAGON: 'I remember the forest so fauge, when such as fox and hare would share burrows...While dragons stalked, breathed. Air...cool, rich with nutritious...Out fogs of moth and nectar bee.'
KIDS: (amazed) 'Wow.'
THEODORE: 'It's never done that before.'
ALVIN: 'Sure makes ya think, doesn't it?'
BRITTANY: 'I'll say.'
BENTLEY: 'Absolutely.'
DRAGON: 'Where are dragons now, hmm? Only memories. And none so clear as these.'
PENNY: (pats the Dragon's leg) 'You're here.'
DRAGON: 'And very glad to be.'
As Jeanette put in another slot, the Dragon gasped at what he saw - the picture showing wild monkeys in a cage at the zoo.
DRAGON: 'What might they do that deserves locking up in prison?!'
THEODORE: 'Shh! That's not prison. It's the zoo.'
DRAGON: 'Zoo?'
SIMON: 'It's a place where humans can learn about animals in their own backyard...'
JEANETTE: 'Or even animals from other countries.'
DRAGON: 'Ah. I see.'
Once Jeanette put in another slot, the Dragon saw another picture.
DRAGON: 'More zoo cubs. Oh, but these - these are wilder, and less behaved.'
The picture showed various animals in clothes at a party.
PENNY: 'That's my birthday party.'
DRAGON: (chuckles) 'Such a celebration!'
BENTLEY: 'This is a birthday. A celebration of the day you were born.'
ALVIN: 'Or, uh, hatched in your case.' (chuckles)
Simon elbowed Alvin in the ribs, causing him some pain.
DRAGON: 'But isn't that what you must do everyday?'
SIMON: (turns off the projector) 'Affirmative. But we also have a special party on just one day.'
ALVIN: 'Eeyup.'
THEODORE: 'Say, when's your birthday?'
DRAGON: (mutters) 'I-I dunno.'
BENTLEY: 'We play games.'
THEODORE: 'We eat lots of gooey stuff.'
ELEANOR: 'And we get presents.'
DRAGON: (thoughtfully) 'Presents. Presents. Presents?"
PENNY: 'Presents. And for a kid, it's the best part.'
BRITTANY: 'Absolutely. Ya can't have a birthday party without presents.'
JEANETTE: 'Here, we'll show ya.'
Then she and Simon showed the Dragon a round yellow package with a green ribbon.
DRAGON: (holding the present) 'Oh, I will treasure this always.'
ALVIN: (rolls his eyes) 'Now ya gotta open it up!'
DRAGON: 'There's more?'
The Dragon then pulled the ribbon off, tore off the wrapping power, and gasped as he saw a Noah's Ark clock in his hands.
DRAGON: (chuckles) 'What a wondrous thing these presents be.'
PENNY: 'And if you come to my party, it'll be the best present I could ever wish for.'
DRAGON: 'Very well! I shall present myself on this days of days, your birthday party.'
BENTLEY: 'And you won't have to worry. Bert and the others'll be there.'
PENNY: 'We promise you'll be safe. And you'll have a wonderful time!'
DRAGON: (prepares to leave) 'Y'know, sapling? I do believe you're right! Ah-hoo!'
With that, the Dragon took the sky with his present and was gone. The kids waved their goodbyes to before going their separate ways.
KIDS: (to each other) 'See you guys tomorrow.'

OUTSIDE THE EVERGREEN FOREST: CIRCUS
Next morning, Clarence was working the tow-truck, which had a plank of wood in its cable. Lenny was helping to guide him.
LENNY: 'Okay, c'mon. Down...c'mon. Okay, hold it! While I get the rope.'
As Lenny turned to get the rope, Clarence looked and saw a yellow bird on the hood of the truck.
CLARENCE: 'Oh, a golden-crown mag-tail. Pretty birdie.'
As Clarence put his hands on the windshield, he accidentally activated the cable holding the plank, causing it to swing and hit Lenny, who was still pulling out the rope, on his bottom and fall forwards. Suddenly, a big man with a cigar and hat stepped out of his trailer as Lenny had Clarence by the collar. It was Lenny and Clarence's boss.
BOSS: (gruffly) 'Hey, you two! Stop clowning around! (realizes what he said and laughs) Or rather, start clowning around! We got another party to do.'
CLARENCE: 'Oh boy, clowning!'
LENNY: (frustrated) 'Oh, not another kid's show. We gotta get us a real job.'
CLARENCE: 'Uh, but ya need some attraction to work the big top, and we haven't got any.'
LENNY: 'So we'd better find somethin'!'

EVERGREEN FOREST: BLUE SPRUCE CAFE
At Blue Spruce Cafe's house, nearly the whole gang was there - Bentley, Penny, the Chipmunks, the Chipettes, Bert, Lisa, Michelle, Cedric, Sophia, Broo, and even Bonneville, Terrance, Lloyd, Boyd, Floyd, Alicia, Melanie, and Zoza were there. Alicia almost lost her balloon that Lloyd had given her, but the Dragon managed to catch it by its string and bring it back to her.
ALICIA: 'Thank you, Dragon.'
DRAGON: 'Anything for a Princess.'
Just then, Bentley and Penny came up.
PENNY: 'Isn't this fun?'
BENTLEY: 'Told ya you'd fit right in.'
DRAGON: 'Thank you, my young friends.'
BONNEVILLE: 'Hey, guys, the Chipmunks and Chipettes have just finished setting up the stage.'
On the stage, the Chipmunks and Chipettes had their instruments all set up, and were ready to go.
ALVIN: (on the microphone) 'All right, ladies and gents. Time to rock 'n' roll!'
With that, the Chipmunks and Chipettes sang "Vacation". No one had noticed, but their sounds caught the attention of Lenny and Clarence, who were by now in clown costumes. Lenny hid in the bushes, pulling Clarence with him.
Later, Bert did a juggling act. Suddenly, a fly buzzed onto his nose.
BERT: 'Shoo, fly. Don't bother me.'
Distracted, the balls fell on top of Bert's head. Later on, everyone had a three-legged race outside - the Chipmunks with their Chipette counterparts, Bentley with Penny, Bonneville with Terrance, Bert with Lisa, Cedric with Sophia, and the Pigs with the Princesses. Michelle stood with the Dragon, Schaeffer and Broo.
SCHAEFFER: 'Ready...'
MICHELLE: 'Steady...'
DRAGON: 'Go!'
BROO: 'Ruff!'
And the race was on! Bonneville and Terrance got an early lead, but Terrance tripped causing them and some of the others to fall. Only Bert and Lisa, Alvin and Brittany, and Bentley and Penny were left. But soon, Bentley and Penny managed to over take the others and won at the last minute.
BENTLEY: 'Yeah!'
PENNY: 'We won!'
Next, Theodore dipped his head in a huge bucket of water. Then he brought it back up, revealing an apple in his mouth. Bert tried it, but couldn't get an apple at all. Then they all stared up at the Dragon. But he took so many apples in his mouth that the bucket was dry of water. Then the Dragon thought for a moment. Then, hitting on an idea, he shot the apples out of his mouth into the sky and juggled them on the end of his tail. Everyone thought that was a neat trick and cheered. In the bush, unknown to anyone, Clarence clapped as well.
CLARENCE: 'Oh, boy! That's really good.'
Lenny didn't say anything. He was thinking about something.
Later, the kids blew bubbles. Alvin blew a bubble so big, it caught Cedric and Sophia inside of it. The bubble flew up a bit, popped, and the two aardvarks began to fall. Fortunately, the Dragon managed to catch them in his hands, none the worse for their little adventure.
Later, the kids played pin-the-tail-on-the-raccoon. Floyd was blindfolded, while the others told him if he was warm or cold.
BERT: 'You're gettin' warm.'
LLOYD: 'No, you're getting cold.'
BONNEVILLE: 'Boiling.'
JEANETTE: 'Scalding!'
BRITTANY: 'Red hot!'
ALVIN: 'Uh-oh - cooling down, arctic, subzero, freezing...'
Unknown for Floyd, he had accidentally pinned the Dragon's leg instead. The Dragon shot up into the air in pain, causing Floyd to fly backwards to the ground. When he took the blindfold off, he looked nervously at the others.
FLOYD: (chuckles nervously) 'Uh, did I get it?'
ALVIN: (to the Dragon) 'Aw, c'mon. Don't be such a ninny.'
DRAGON: (from up in the air) 'Ninny?! Better a ninny than a dodo! 'Twas a mistake to come here! I was safe in my railway tunnel, and safe again I'll be!'
BRITTANY: 'Alvin, now look what you've done!'
BENTLEY: 'Dragon, wait!'
ALVIN: 'I didn't mean it, big guy! Wait!'
PENNY: 'Dra....gon.'
But it was already too late. The Dragon had already gone out of sight.
BRITTANY: 'Oh, rats! Huh?'
Brittany looked down and saw a wild rat in between her sneakers.
BRITTANY: (jumps in the air) 'EEEEEE!'
Then Brittany landed in Alvin's arms. From inside the bush, Lenny and Clarence had seen everything.
CLARENCE: 'Did they say "dragon"?'
LENNY: 'Go figure.'
CLARENCE: 'I woulda paid to see a dragon, and he's a real one for free.'
LENNY: (deviously) 'Y'know, I think we just did our last kiddie's show.'
Lenny then stepped out of the bush, chuckling evilly as he pulled Clarence with him.

EVERGREEN FOREST
Later, Bentley and Penny led the Chipmunks, the Chipettes and Broo back to the Evergreen Mountain where the old railway tunnel would be. Little did they know they were being followed by Lenny and Clarence. But they were finding it hard to keep up, especially Lenny who was wheezing the whole way. Finally, they'd lost track of the animals, who had one by one jumped inside the same hole Penny and Bentley fell through the first time they met the Dragon.

DRAGON'S LAIR
Once inside, the kids all looked around for their friend. They even went so far as to try shouting tidings.
KIDS: 'Ah-hoo!'
But all they got was their echoes.
BENTLEY: 'We know you're here, Dragon. We need to talk.'
THEODORE: 'You were right.'
ELEANOR: 'Maybe it isn't safe for ya to be outside.'
BRITTANY: 'But that doesn't mean we can't still be friends.'
JEANETTE: 'Does it?'
ALVIN: 'I'm really sorry for calling you a ninny before. It was wrong of me.'
SIMON: 'That's right. Alvin kinda does this sorta thing all the time.'
ALVIN: 'Bottom line, I'm sorry and I hope you can accept my apology.'
PENNY: 'We're all sorry.'
BENTLEY: 'W-We can come and see you.'
PENNY: 'Please? I don't want a world without dragons.'
With those last words, the kids decided to leave. But not before Penny got one last look inside. Penny sighed and sniffed back a few tears as they left. Another sigh came from another part of the cave. It was the Dragon, and he was staring at his own reflection in a stream that ran through his lair. He sniffed a few tears himself as he thought back on the days' events - from Bentley and Penny running up to him; to Bentley and Penny winning the three-legged race; to the Dragon catching Cedric and Sophia after the bubble popped; to finally the kids calling back to him when he flew away from the party.
After that, the Dragon rummaged through his treasure, throwing out a red-and-white striped ball, an umbrella, a teddy bear, an accordion, and even an old crown.
DRAGON: 'No, no, no. Think, ya old goat.'
Finally, he pulled out the Noah's Ark clock he had received the other night.
DRAGON: 'Such trouble I've caused, hurting the ones who care best. I must make it up, with the best present ever. But the treasure is not enough. What'll I do?! (pause) Aha! That be it! Heh-heh-heh, the greatest present ever! Ah-hooooo!'
His shout echoed throughout the tunnel.

EVERGREEN FOREST: PENNY'S HOUSE
That night, Bentley and the Chipmunks and Chipettes were in their night clothes at Penny's house. Penny stood by her bedroom window by herself, while the others were asleep.
PENNY: 'Good night, Dragon.'
Then she closed her window and went to bed. Unknown to her, Lenny and Clarence had followed them again, and were outside her house.
CLARENCE: (whispers) 'How long are we gonna sit here?'
LENNY: (whispers) 'As long as it takes to catch us a dragon, so quiet!'
CLARENCE: (shouts) 'Oh, yeah! A dragon!'
LENNY: (whispers) 'QUIET!' (hits his head against the window sill)

INSIDE
Penny tried to sleep, but found it difficult. Suddenly, all the kids woke up and gasped at the sound of chattering noises. Penny turned on the bedside light and they all rubbed their eyes. There were 18 wild monkeys at the foot of Penny's bed. Bentley opened the door and gasped. He motioned for the others to come and they saw a wild polar bear, an antelope, a snake, a kangaroo in the hallway. Suddenly, Penny heard chomping coming from her parent's bedroom. It was a wild rhinoceros, and it was eating some of her parents' clothes. The Chipettes then gasped as they saw a wild ostrich run down the stairs. As the kids walked into the kitchen, they spied some wild ferrets in the stove.

OUTSIDE
Finally, as Penny opened the door, all the kids gasped as they saw, to their surprise, the Evergreen Railway Dragon, smiling, with other wild animals.
BENTLEY: 'You came back!'
The kids all ran over to the friend and gave him a big hug.
KIDS: 'Oh, Dragon!'
Meanwhile, Lenny and Clarence had fallen asleep. But upon hitting his head against the window sill again, Lenny woke up and saw what was happening.
PENNY: 'But, uh, what's all this?'
DRAGON: 'Have you forgotten your birthday? Why, 'tis your present.'
BRITTANY: 'But it's a whole zoo!'
DRAGON: 'No, t'isn't. I left some beetles, and a crocodile.'
PENNY: 'It's a wonderful present, but...'
DRAGON: 'Do you not care for them?'
PENNY: 'Oh, I do! Very much. It's just...'
CHIPMUNKS/CHIPETTES: 'Not safe in the world right now.'
ALVIN: 'Especially not for the likes of you.'
DRAGON: 'Then, we must work 'til we make it safe! Safe again once more, for them...'
KIDS: 'And for dragons.'
Suddenly they turned when they heard an unfamiliar voice. It was Clarence.
CLARENCE: 'Here, boy.'
LENNY: 'Get 'im, Clarence!'
CLARENCE: (appearing from behind a bush) 'No one's gonna hurt ya.'
Immediately, the Dragon went into "defensive mode", growling and spreading his wings to make himself look bigger as he walked towards the human. Clarence looked nervously at the huge beast.
LENNY: 'Okay, now!'
Suddenly, the Dragon found himself in a net, which was being held by the humans' tow-truck, which drove away.
KIDS: 'No!'
But it was no good. They were gone.
ALVIN: 'That's it! Now, I'm mad!'
BRITTANY: 'We gotta call for reinforcements!'
BENTLEY: 'You guys get Bert and the others. Penny and I'll call on some other friends.'
CHIPMUNKS/CHIPETTES: 'How?'
PENNY: 'How else?'
Then she and Bentley began to shout tidings for the other dragons to come to the rescue, as the Chipmunks and Chipettes spread out across the forest.

OUTSIDE THE FOREST
Meanwhile, Lenny and Clarence were imagining about their catch.
LENNY: 'This is our ticket. Big top, here we come!'
CLARENCE: 'The one, the only, real-life dragon anywhere!'
LENNY: (chuckles) 'What the?'
Lenny immediately hit the brakes as he saw the Chipmunks, the Chipettes, and the other Evergreen Forest residents with several of the other Dragons from the Day of Tidings Celebration. Lenny and Clarence screamed at the sight of them, as the fat dragon picked up the tow-truck from behind, making sure they wouldn't go anywhere. Later, the Evergreen Railway Dragon was free, while Lenny and Clarence were in their very own net, which was being bounced back and forth by two other dragons, while the animals of the Evergreen Forest watched in amusement.
CYRIL: (chuckles) 'Now, this is more fun than a barrel of monkeys.'
ALVIN: 'The one...'
BRITTANY: 'The only...'
CHIPMUNKS/CHIPETTES: 'Real-life schnooks in captivity!'
They all had a good laugh about that.
DRAGON: 'They'll do no more harm. (to the kids) Come! We still have work to do.'
PENNY: 'I'll be there in a sec.'
As Bentley left, Penny whispered something to Alvin, Bert, and the others. Then they nodded and Penny took off.

THE ZOO
Arriving at the zoo, Bentley, Penny, and the Dragon spread out and led the wild animals back to where they all belonged. They had a bit of trouble getting the elephant back in its enclosure, but they managed to do it just before the night watchman saw anything.

THE CIRCUS
Back at the circus, Lenny and Clarence's boss was giving them a stern-talking to.
BOSS: '...And another days' wages for not showing up at the party! And another days' wages for taking the truck without permission! And another for such a stupid story!!'
After their boss slammed the door, Lenny was about to say something when they both heard familiar voices call out.
DRAGON/KIDS: 'Ah-hoo!'
LENNY: 'I didn't see nothin'. Did you?'
CLARENCE: 'W-w-w-what about the d-d-dra-dra... (sees Lenny biting his nails nervously) Nope. I-I didn't see nothin' at all.'

EVERGREEN FOREST
Back in the skies above the Evergreen Forest, Bentley, and Penny were enjoying another ride atop of the Dragon, all the way back to the old railway tunnel.
DRAGON: 'Now I know why ya have this day of birthdays but once a year.'
PENNY: 'Why?'
DRAGON: 'Cuz they're too dangerous. Filled full with...'
BENTLEY: 'Cakes, clowns...'
PENNY: 'And adventure!'
DRAGON: (disappointed) 'Ah, but with no presents to keep. That most important thing on a day of birthdays.'
BENTLEY: 'Aw, cheer up, Dragon. We all know you meant well.'
PENNY: 'And besides, I have a wonderful present: a memory to keep. And most of all, you - still as our friend.'
DRAGON: (cheering up a bit) 'And this feels like...my birthday too.'
PENNY: 'Y'know, it's funny you should say that.'
Penny winked at Bentley, who gave a whistle which echoed throughout the lair. Then, one by one, Bert and the others, including the other dragons, all came out from their hiding places, with Schaeffer coming up with a great, big birthday cake with lots of candles on top.
EVERYONE: (minus the Dragon) 'Happy birthday, Dragon!'
Happy beyond words, the Dragon turned to Bentley and Penny, who helped him blow out the candles, just as the Chipmunks and Chipettes came out and sang "Born This Way/Ain't No Stopping Us Now/Firework".

Great story I like it when the dragon gave Alicia her balloon when it went away:hug:
