Chapter 7: (Apologies & Walk)

The next day, Simon and Jeanette held up a picture.

Simon: This is great, J5.

Jeanette: Yeah, you popped the flash just before the soup landed on his tie.

Johnny 5: Yeah, well, photography's an art. Ya gotta have the right film, ya gotta have the right exposure, and ya gotta scream just before they get the food to their mouth.

Sora: (worried) Johnny, what have you been watching on TV lately?

Then, before Johnny 5 could answer, there was a knock on the door as a small light turned on the already dried pictures.

Mickey's Voice: What's goin' on in there? A lotta folks out here wanna use the restroom!

Sora: Sorry, Mickey, we're developing these pictures. (turns off the light) We'll be out once we've finished here.

Alvin: That's right, we're trying to catch a jewel thief.

Oswald's Voice: Well, catch him in another room! People are prancin' up and down on one leg out here!

Sora: (looks at Johnny 5) Hurry up, J5. There's gotta be a picture of somebody taking Lady Holiday's necklace.

Johnny 5 then took an unused photo while dipping it in the water as Alvin spoke.

Alvin: Well, if ya ask me, I still think that girl took it.

Brittany: No way, she wouldn't steal.

Alvin: Why not? She lied, remember?

Simon: That's different, Alvin.

Jeanette: Besides, she couldn't have stolen the necklace because we all saw her dancing with Sora last night.

They then heard banging from outside the bathroom.

Theodore: That's right. There's that old saying that goes "Ya can't dance and steal at the time".

Eleanor: No, that's "Ya can't walk and chew gum at the same time". But you're right, though.

All while Johnny 5 was busy taking care of the photos and laundry.

Theodore: And then, there's "Ya can't pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time".

Alvin: Okay, okay, okay. So, she didn't steal the necklace. But I betcha I could do it.

Brittany: Do what?

Alvin: Pat my head and rub my stomach at the same time.

He then demonstrated it as Brittany spoke.

Brittany: Oh, big deal, anybody can do that.

She did the same thing Alvin was, making Sora groan in frustration.

Sora: Will you two cut it out?! We're wasting time!

Alvin: She started it!

Brittany: (at the same time) He started it!

Both: (to each other) Me?! Yes, you! Stop that!

They heard more banging as shouting was also heard.

Voices: BATHROOM! BATHROOM! BATHROOM!

They heard the banging while Johnny 5 examined the photo he dipped.

Johnny 5: (notices) Hey, here it is!

Chipmunks: What? What?

Chipettes: What is it?

They then looked at what Johnny 5 was looking at.

Sora: (notices) Well, whaddaya know? It's that guy sitting next to Lady Holiday and those three girls standing in the background.

Simon: It's probably the same gang that pulled that first job!

Theodore/Eleanor: (smiles) Wow!

Jeanette: Yeah, and we got 'em with their hands in the cookie jar!

Alvin/Brittany: Yeah, we did it!

Just then, the door flung wide open. Then, the group in the line shouted as Donald Duck came in first.

Donald: Hey, what's the big idea?

Bert: Yeah, what is this?

Johnny 5 then looked at the photo as it turned black.

Chipmunks/Chipettes: (frowns) Oh no.

The eight just looked down as Johnny 5 spoke.

Johnny 5: Cookie jar busted, broken apart, dismantled, destroyed, disassembled.

Later that day, in the park, Sora was alone at a bench near the beach, looking down while the ducks in the lake quacked. All while a certain blue LB&SCR E2-class 0-6-0T steam engine with the number "1" named Thomas, with his coaches, Annie & Clarabel, puffed on the tracks near by. Sora turned to Thomas as he blew his whistle to say hello. Sora then waved as he watched Thomas and his coaches and trucks disappear around the bend as a certain green Avonside 0-4-0ST/GWR 1340 Trojan steam engine with the number "6" named Percy, with his Sodor Mail trucks puffed by on the opposite track, having whistled his "best friends" whistle to Thomas before disappearing as well.

Then Sora sighed while looking at a familar glass slipper from last night. Then, he noticed someone coming up to him. He was a white duck with feathers like sideburns, wore a blue jacket with a folded-down, red collar, red cuffs, and a yellow button near the neck, a red belt, a black top hat with a red band near the brim, red spats and pince-nez glasses. He was Scrooge McDuck and he was one of Donald Duck's uncles from Scotland.

Scrooge: How're ye doin', young lad?

He then sat next to a depressed Sora.

Sora: Oh, okay, I guess.

Scrooge: Penny for ye thoughts?

Sora: (looks at him) Well, it's a long story.

Scrooge: But a familiar one, I'll bet.

Sora: (nods) Older than the hills.

Scrooge: (looks at the lake) Aye, I've been there, lad. I've been there an' back.

Sora nodded while the duck continued.

Scrooge: Y'know, I see the way yer sittin' here an'...(points to the shoe) I see the way ye got yer hand aroond that shoe, an' that's all I need. I know yer whole story.

Sora: (disbelievingly) Do you?

Scrooge: Aye. I know exactly what happened tae ye.

Sora frowned more as he spoke.

Sora: Try me.

Scrooge: Well, lad, what happen was ye an' yer brother-in-law, Bernie, ye cast in yer stock certificates an' yer insurance policy an' ye went oot an' bought a dry-cleanin' establishment.

Sora: Huh?

Scrooge: Noo, another place opens up doon the street an' it's chargin' less. An' they're gettin' their stuff oot faster because they have more help. 'Tisn't yer fault, right?

Sora: Uh...

Scrooge: Aye, then. So Bernie comes tae ye an' says, "I want ye to buy me oot". An' says he's fed up. Well, yer kids are growin' up, ye never see 'em an' all of a sudden, they're turnin' intae juvenile delinquents an' yer wife says tae ye, "Oi, ye care more for this lousy business than ye do for me". An' the equipment breaks doon an' yer sister moves in with ye because that jerk, Bernie, went an' join the circus. (points to his own heart) Well, ye had it up tae here, aye? Ye didn't know what tae do. So what'd ye do? Ye did the only thing ye could do. Ye dumped the business for a song. An' who'd ye sell it tae?

Sora: Who?

Scrooge: Ye sold it tae that jerk down the street, that slob that'd been buryin' ye for a year. Then, ye took whatever money ye have left an' sunk it intae the glass slipper business.

Sora then looked at the glass slipper Kairi had lost.

Scrooge: That's yer story, me lad. Not a happy one, eh?

Sora: (sighs) Y'know what's amazing? You are 100% wrong. I mean, nothing you said has been right.

Scrooge: Aye? (pauses) Well, how aboot that.

Sora: Uh, I don't wanna be rude, but uh, we're tryin' to do a movie here.

Scrooge: (surprised) That so?

Sora: Yup.

Scrooge: Oh, sorry aboot that, lad. Anything I could help ye with?

Sora: No thanks. I just need some time to myself.

Scrooge then hopped off the bench as he spoke.

Scrooge: Hollywood.

He then left the teen boy as he groaned.

Sora: How Scrooge McDuck got into this one, I'll never know.

Just then, Sora heard a familiar voice.

Kairi's Voice: Get your stinkin' hands off me!

Then, he looked as he saw a man being tossed in the lake by a familiar girl in her normal attire but was barefoot, keeping her shoes in her bag, which was slung over her shoulder.

Man: I beg your pardon, young lady!

Kairi: Just keep your hands to yourself, turkey!

Sora's Voice: Aha!

Kairi then turned and gasped at the familiar teen boy before turning back around. All while Sora glared while heading toward her.

Sora: Well, well, well. If it isn't the fake Lady Holiday.

She then turned around, pretending to be happy.

Kairi: Hello!

Sora: Hello? Last night ya never even said goodbye. Or had ya forgotten?

Kairi: (sighs) Uh, Sora. That was just silliness. He-he.

The Chipmunks and Chipettes, getting some ice cream, just watched the scene. Johnny 5 was with them as well with a book in hand, watching as well.

Sora: But you lied to me! You used me!

He then through the glass slipper he had against a nearby tree, causing it to break into pieces on impact. Sora then began walking away while Kairi walked behind him.

Kairi: Oh, Sora, please, at least lemme explain. Uh, my name's Kairi, and I-I am a model.

Sora: Right, right.

All while the man got out of the water.

Kairi: I only lied because I...I wanted to be with you.

Sora: Yeah, well, I saw you dancing with that guy last night.

Kairi: Oh, Sora.

Sora: Well, lemme tell you somethin'.

He stopped and turned to face her.

Sora: Your dancing partner happens to be a jewel thief. Whaddaya think o' that?

She looked shocked and gasped. Then, Kairi figured something as she spoke.

Kairi: I think you're jealous.

Sora: I am not.

Kairi: You are! (grins) You are, you are, you are, you are!

Sora sighed exasperatedly, then began marching away from her.

Kairi: Oh, Sora, I'm sorry. Please don't go, Sora, please. Please, I'm sorry.

Sora stopped in front of the bike rentals shop as Kairi got onto her knees and grabbed hold of his legs and began crying.

Sora: (thinking) Man, what should I do? I wanna forgive her, but should I? Well, now that I think about it, I did think she was Lady Holiday to begin with in the first place.

Sora then turned around, seeing tear streaks on Kairi's cheeks as they looked at each other. He then got down to his knees and placed his hands on her shoulders.

Sora: (wiping away Kairi's tears) Kairi...I'm sorry I yelled at you. It was kinda my fault. I should've asked if you really were who I thought you were in the first place. And anyway, I had fun dancing with you last night.

Kairi: (wipes away a tear) I did too, Sora. And I'm really sorry I lied and left you last night at the nightclub. But I really wanna get to know you a little better. Can you ever forgive me?

Sora: (smiles) Apology accepted. Besides, I'd like to get to know you, too. (looks at her barefeet) Did anyone ever tell ya that ya had cute feet?

Kairi: (blushes) D'you really think my feet are cute?

Sora: (lovingly) Absolutely. And you have such a lovely face.

Both teens moved in for a kiss, when they heard seven voices moaning lovingly. Then the teens looked and spied the Chipmunks, the Chipettes and Johnny 5 watching them.

Johnny 5: (imitates Roger Rabbit) P-b-b-b-b-bleeease, (regular voice) don't mind us.

Alvin: (singsongy) Sora and Kairi, sittin' in a tree. K-I-S-S...

Brittany then stomped on Alvin's foot.

Alvin: Ouch! (grabs hold of his foot, hopping on the other)

Brittany: Shut up, Alvin.

Kairi then looked at Sora, smiling.

Kairi: You have very interesting friends.

Sora chuckled, feeling embarrassed.

Sora: Yes, I know.

Kairi: But, they're nice friends.

Sora then looked at his friends, smiling.

Sora: Yes. Yes, they are.

A bit later, Sora and Kairi walked all over the park with the Chipmunks, the Chipettes and Johnny 5 as they began to sing.

Sora: (singing) Pretty day, sunny sky
Lovely pictures dance in your eye

Kairi: (singing) It all seems so right

Sora: (singing) It all seems so rare

Kairi then walked in front of Sora as she sang her part.

Kairi: (singing) Summer soft sudden breeze
Watch the wind play tag in the trees

Both: (singing) The world is so bright
So perfectly fair

Then, Sora was next to her as the Chipmunks and Chipettes began singing while they passed people walking, dogs chasing each other, and children playing.

Chipmunks & Chipettes: (singing) Lovers sing, children dance
For a minute, we've got a chance

Kairi: (singing) Why couldn't we fly?

Sora: (singing) I know we'd get by

The two then skipped around as the song continued.

Chipmunks & Chipettes: (singing) Sunny sky, pretty day
Just a push and we're on the way

Johnny 5: (singing) Yes, couldn't we fly

Sora and Kairi then continued walking straight.

Both: (singing) Side by side?

Then Sora and Kairi went and sat on a bench. All while the Chipmunks and Chipettes played a bit in the grass. All while two familiar old men - one with his grey hair in an afro named Mavis, the other with a hat and a grey goatee named Clavis - watched them. Then, Alvin started getting on the arm-rests of the bench as he started balacing himself on one leg.

Clavis: "Look, ma, no brains!"

Mavis & Clavis: Ha-ha-ha!

All while Brittany flipped upside down on the ground beneath the bench and walking in a hand stand. However, she was having a hard time trying to keep her balance. She then got her foot caught in a tight spot on one of the legs of the bench.

Brittany: Ah!

Alvin, up on the top, then finally noticed. He gasped as he saw Brittany upside down and her foot caught. She giggled in embarrassment as Alvin hopped down to where she was at. Then he pushed her foot a little, and managed to catch her in his arms before she could hit the ground. They then rejoined Sora, Kairi, Johnny 5 and the other Chipmunks and Chipettes. All while their friends were up ahead of them.

Mickey & Minnie: (singing) Why couldn't we fly?

Oswald & Ortensia: (singing) I know we'd get by

Donald & Daisy: (singing) Sunny sky

Goofy & Clarabelle: (singing) Pretty day

Ralph & Melissa: (singing) Just a push and we're on the way

Bert: (singing) Yes, couldn't we fly

Cedric & Sophia: (singing) Side by side?

All: (singing) Couldn't we fly?

As they finished singing their song, they were joined by many others, even the Little Einsteins, Toaster and his/her fellow appliances, the Smurfs, and many stuffed animals - Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga & Roo.
